An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) holds the highest regarded professional qualification in breastfeeding knowledge and works to support, protect and promote breastfeeding.  

 

 IBCLCs are regulated by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and are required to re-certify every 5 years.  The purpose of this is to promote continued competence through professional development and lifelong learning.  In addition, IBCLCs are obliged to work in accordance with the IBLCE Code of Professional Conduct.
